Who Holds School Districts Accountable?
Who holds public school districts accountable when they violate state laws (statutes)? As a result of the LCSD's actions/decisions, I have experienced long-term financial, personal, and emotional hardship.
I have contacted the Lee County Teacher's Union (TALC), the Florida Board of Education (FLDOE), and multiple law firms/attorneys, and no one is willing to address this issue.
Contact Emails
Between January 2025 and May 2026, I contacted 13 law firms (PDF list) regarding this case. Apparently, there seems to be a “legal loophole” when it comes to holding Florida public school districts accountable. Since my situation involves statute (law) violations, neither education lawyers, nor employment lawyers, want to take this case.
So, I guess the strategy of the LCSD is to wait-out the statute of limitations rule (to avoid any legal consequences) by not having any law firms represent teachers. It appears students and parents have more rights in public schools than teachers.
Education Law Firms
Education lawyers will not take this case because this is not a certification issue; plus, in Florida, school districts are allowed to determine their own hiring policies. See the list below of the Education Law firms I contacted (4):
Employment Law Firms
Employment lawyers will not take this case because this is not a work discrimination issue. See the list below of the Employment Law firms I contacted (9):
