My LCSD Employment History
Between 2010 - 2019, I was hired by the Lee County School District as a certified math teacher. However, my tenure as a Lee County teacher was not a smooth one… it included multiple terminations, and even having to leave the teaching profession for a few years.
In 2019, I was placed on "employment restriction" by the district simply for challenging the validity of a district policy. This decision led to me being terminated from a math teaching job at a charter school. I am currently being denied a teaching job in Lee County - even as a substitute teacher.
My Background
My background was in retail/customer service. After the 2008 recession, I decided to pursue a career in education.
In September 2009, at the age of 38, I enrolled in the Teacher Immersion Program (TIP) at Florida Gulf Coast University.
I did my student teaching (Spring semester of 2010) in a 7th grade math class, and completed my teaching certification in June of 2010.

Detailed Employment History with LCSD
Start Date: 10/8/2010
End Date: 12/1/2010
Location: Mariner High School
Position: Math Teacher
Contract Type: Annual
Total Days Employed: 62
Reason for Break in Employment: 90-Day Probation Release This was my first teaching job and first time teaching high school students. I was hired at the beginning of the 2nd quarter and had high expectations for my students. My performance was praised by my administrator, but I had an unfortunate response to a behavior issue with a student. Rather than support and train a new teacher, the Director of Professional Standards decided to terminate my employment simply because it happened within my 90-day probationary period.
Additional Work History
Notes:
In October 2019, the LCSD placed me on "employment restriction" because I challenged a district policy... and because of my "work history" (aka. multiple probationary releases). In 2022, before and after hurricane Ian, I reapplied to the LCSD to be a substitute teacher and requested that my employment restriction be lifted/changed. (See my Employment Reinstatement Request Letter) Even during a teacher shortage, my reemployment request was denied. After 15 years (2010-2025), I only have one official year of teaching experience – one with Charter School, USA (CSUSA) and zero with the Lee County School District (LCSD). On October 28, 2024, I was terminated from my full-time teaching job at a charter school because I was placed on a no-hire list by the LCSD – I was deemed, “not eligible for rehire” by the district. Therefore, as to the charter school policy of not employing anyone on a no-hire list, I was terminated immediately. On August 12, 2025, I was informed that I was denied employment as a substitute teacher by Kelly Education (Services)* because, I "did not pass district criteria”. * In 2023, LCSD outsourced all their substitute teachers to Kelly Education (Services).
